Private Health Insurance to be Illegal with Health Care Bill
Investors Business Daily undertook the adventure of reading the 1018 page document, after it was released on Tuesday. It didn’t take them too long to reach some ominous wording that will kill the Health insurance business. On page 16, “Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage, the “Limitation On New Enrollment” section of the bill clearly states:
“Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day” of the year the legislation becomes law.” In other words, no new policies may be written after the legislation becomes law.
So, persons already enrolled in private coverage can keep it, but if they move to another job, or perhaps want to change it, they won’t be able to.
