Socialized Medicine & Eugenics

Hat Tip Southern Belle Politics
Mark Levin and Hot Air report that when 64 yr old Barbara Wagner’s lung cancer came out  of remission, her oncologist wanted to restart the chemotherapy. However, because she lives in Oregon, which has had socialized medicine since 1994, the Health Board rejected the request stating that because she was a terminal case, it was not “cost-effective”. However, the Health Board did offer her a doctor-assisted suicide, legalized in Oregon since 1997. (The drug Tarceva costs $4000/mo; assisted suicide $100)

Life Site News reports that the Director of Oregon’s Health Plan, Dr. Walter Shaffer, said “We can’t cover everything for everyone…We try to come up with polices that provide the most good for the most people.” Shaffer then addressed a priority list that had been developed to ration health care. “There’s some desire on the part of the framers of this list to not cover treatments that are futile,” he said, “or where the potential benefit to the patient is minimal in relation to the expense of providing the care.”

And, of course, abortion will be paid for. So, there you go, a nice Eugenics package for you, updated for the 21st century. Hitler and Margaret Sanger couldn’t have thought of a better idea.

In Cuba they will now pay for sex change operations, according to NY Daily News. After all, it’s politically correct, right? Contrary to what Michael Moore says, Newsmax cited that Dr. Dessy Mendoza Riviera was arrested by the Communist regime because he sounded the alarm for “raging epidemic of dengue fever in the spring and summer of 1997.” Castro later had to admit to it, but Dr. Mendoza still spent 8 yrs in an over-crowded, unsanitary prison there.

Andrew Wilkow, Sirius Talkshow host, kicks this liberal socialist philosophy to the curb.
