Obamas Sacrifice For the Better Good

It was only fitting that the Obamas would now show how thoughtful they could be during our difficult times. Instead of bringing the New York play, “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone”, to the White House, they flew to New York for a date on Saturday night for theatre and dinner. They know how important it is in times like this to be thrifty. Just like you and I are learning; instead of movies at the theatre, we’ll get a movie at Redbox, or Movie Cube for a buck. It cost $73,000++.

After all, they want to inspire us, as all leaders know that they should, leading the way by example. Hopefully Air Farce One will steer clear of downtown Manhattan, but, of course, it’s only the weekend, so, no doubt, there won’t be many office workers to scare. The play is being considered for a Tony and was written by August Wilson and deals (with) the legacy of slavery in the North. The actors are Afro-American, but the director is white; but apparently the cast ended up guiding the director Mr. Sher.

“Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is set in the second decade of the 20th century and chronicles the lives of a few freed African-American slaves in the North. The play deals with issues of race and reconstruction, but also more broadly examines finding your personal identity and finding your way in life. With many slaves moving North looking for jobs and security after the emancipation, there was racial tension between the newly freed slaves and many of the white working class and the immigrants coming into the country looking for the same jobs that the African-Americans were looking for. This play acknowledges this conflict and shows how certain characters dealt with the problem…By illegally kidnapping freed and run away slaves, Turner represents the evil of the Southern, racist white man.” Wikipedia

It’s good to see that our Dear Leader is not worrying about North Korea, after all that might send a signal to the World that it’s a threat. I’m sure that if anything comes up, he’s instructed the Secretary of Defense to contact Hillary. On the other hand, the real royalty, Prince Harry flew to New York raise money for AIDS, by playing a charity polo match attended by celebrities. He also laid a wreath at Ground Zero and said a prayer.
