Obama’s Stunning Flip-Flop On Missile Defense Systems

Today, in an amazing revelation, Obama said he believes in “proven defense missile systems.” This was in such contradiction to the much viewed youtube video of his disavowing the defense system and promising nuclear disarmament, which frightened many people. He appeared to be naive. Now, on retrospect, perhaps he was just pandering to the “peace-nik” liberal groups.

However, the 2010 Department of Defense budget has been effectively gutted, according to Felix Salmon at Reuters. Obama was lauding science last week, but he doesn’t seem to know the history of science, otherwise, he would have remembered that the development of the Internet was an offshoot of research by the Department of Defense (DARPA). John Bennett Defense News “Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas…accused the Obama Administration of cashing in a peace dividend only emboldens other nations - as well as non-state actors - to test America’s resolve to defend our people and our interests.”

According to John McKittrick “the Administration will instead focus on proven, near-term missile defense programs that can provide more immediate defenses of the United States, its deployed forces, and allies against ballistic missile attack…and will terminate MKV (Multiple Kill Vehicles.)
