Free Worldwide Computer: Zero Footprint

Daniel Arthursson CEO Xcerion
On April 23, 2009, a Swedish company called Xcerion launched a completely free computer, according to The Pravda. It comes with 3 GB of storage for your documents, photos music, etc. Additionally, it has multiple applications, so that when you log in from whatever computer you access, all your favorites are readily available. As of now, it is only working in Internet Explorer, but they are working on the firefox version.

According to Darryl K. Taft, Xcerion’s CEO, Daniel Arthursson, “said the OS is driven completely by XML; the user interface is described in XML as well as the business logic for handling the application and user input. Xcerion also provides an extensive IDE (integrated development environment) for visually creating these XML documents without having to know either programming or XML.” Obviously, they’re way ahead of Microsoft and Google.

This means that if you are a writer, you will be able to keep your documents, music, and  photos in this “ICloud space and you will be able to access them  from whatever computer is available. For me, this means that I will be able to free up 3 GB of memory from my hard drive and give me a faster computer.

I also think that it is very neat for developing countries, since those people may not own their own computer, but have to rely on a public computer. Without a personal computer, it is very difficult to maintain a blog, or several, what to speak of a book. According to PR Web, “Xcerion especially hopes to give people that cannot afford to buy expensive, licensed software a viable alternative. New low-cost and thin computers may also be possible to produce running Xcerion Internet OS (XIOS) on top of a stripped down Linux…The secret is data centers that scales to millions of users and an OS with zero-footprint, zero installation that also runs on top of today’s popular operating systems.”

So, enjoy! If you have multiple users on your home computer, each user could have their own “icloud” account, and that will definitely keep your computer from getting clogged up.
According to Business Week, “the icloud service is available in English, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Swedish and Filipino languages.”
