“A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government. “
-Thomas Jefferson

Governor Sarah Palin gave a speech yesterday in Juneau and outlined how she thought that taking about half (69%) of the stimulus money (931 million) for Alaska would be the appropriate thing to do. according to Associated Press “Palin on Thursday sent a spending bill to the Legislature laying out funding for capital projects that she is willing to accept, on top of the $262 million transportation stimulus spending bill that is already under debate.”She felt that she wanted to insure the most benefit for Alaska, and wanted to be careful not to create a shortfall, when the Federal money runs out.

Also, referring to Thomas Jefferson, she refused money that would be used to create a bigger government. According to MSNBC, she was hesitant to accept funds that would simply “grow the government” and also refused money for education. She was strongly criticized and lambasted for that, and, of course, the issue of Bristol came up again, claiming that she is a high school dropout. However, according to CBS News, “she is a high school senior and plans to graduate in May.”

However, it should be noted that Alaska is a strongly independent state with untapped oil reserves that have been declared “off limits” by the Federal government because of supposed environmental threats to ANWAR. In fact, it has been estimated that the Alaskan reserves have ample supplies, in fact, trillions, according to Rev. Lindsay Williams not only for the the USA, but also for the world. Kissinger negotiated a pact with the Sheiks promising never to drill in Alaska. Rev. Williams was a Baptist missionary for the Alaskan trans pipeline and has firsthand knowledge about the untapped reserves of Gull Island. There are also untapped reserves of natural gas from Prudhoe Bay.
