Evan Bayh Stands Up to The Democratic Machine
Hat Tip Superkommissar Maksim The People’s Cube
Evan Bayh wrote an article in The Wall St.Journal stating his opposition to the spending spree of the Obama Administration. Senator Bayh was Governor of Indiana for 8 years, before becoming the US senator for that state. He said that in his experience, he often had to make cuts in spending in his Executive capacity. Senator Bayh is one of the most respected legislators, and his father, Birch Bayh was the Senator from Indiana from 1963-81.
In February, 2006, Bayh criticized “The [Bush] Administration (which) has increased the national debt by nearly $3 trillion, money our middle class and children must repay with interest. They borrow from Japan, China, Persian Gulf countries, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Germany, even Mexico. They are mortgaging our future. This is not how great leaders act.”
Therefore, in light of those words, how could he allow this reckless spending go without notice. He has been described by WSJ as a fiscally responsible democrat. Thanks to ethical leaders like him, the Pelosi-Reid team was unable to obtain cloture on the Omnibus spending bill, which is, supposedly, according to Turbo-tax Tim Geithner, “just last’s year’s business.” It is, however, chock full of 9000 earmarks.
Hats off to Senator Bayh.
