#44’s Lack of Response to Record Cold Deaths

I remember the rebuke of Obama towards the Bush administration in regards to responding to disasters, specifically, Katrina. On Obama’s website it says: “President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast,” reads the webpage, alluding to Bush’s promise in Jackson Square after Hurricane Katrina “to do whatever it takes” to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.”

However, this week, the record cold weather and storms left 1 million without power and now living in motels, as they lost their heat. According to Lonestar Times, the storm that began in the Midwest had been blamed, or suspected, in at least 42 deaths, including 11 in Kentucky, nine in Arkansas, six each in Texas and Missouri, three in Virginia, two each in Oklahoma, Indiana and West Virginia and one in Ohio. Most were blamed on hypothermia, traffic accidents and carbon monoxide poisoning. Jamie Wearing Fool wonders whether it’s racism or just that Kentucky is a Red state that keeps Obama from ordering a FEMA response.

Back at the white House though, Obama was photographed working in his shirt sleeves, because he cranked up the thermostat. Remember his speech in Oregon? I guess it’s business as usual, “Do as I say, not as I do.” Maybe he and Al Gore are too busy thinking about ways to combat the supposed global Warming.

And, when, and if, Mt Redoubt in Alaska erupts, will he declare an emergency, or just look the other way? After all, it’s Sarah Palin’s state.
