Bob Marley: Astrology of A Musical Legend
They say the “good die young.” But how does that actually happen? Let’s look at the case of Bob Marley, Third world advocate and beloved Reggae musician and composer.
Now, at the time of his birth at 2:30 AM, February 6, 1945, the Moon was in the Ascendant (in the vedic system). That means that he would always be in the Public’s eyes, and, of course, the whole world knows Bob Marley. Furthermore, his Moon is in Anuradha (Scorpio) Nakshatra, which indicates that he was a demi-god. Now, we know that demi-gods come to Planet Earth to deliver a message. Bob’s was one of continuing the struggle of oppressed people. He was also highly attached to his Rastafarian religious beliefs, so much so that he refused conventional surgery that would have saved his life from the spreading metastatic cancer.
In the short time of his life he traveled and wrote much, giving hope to the “underdog.” He has Jupiter aspecting the conjunct Mercury/Mars/Sun combination indicating strong leadership, as well as powerful political abilities. He also has Jupiter and Saturn aspecting Venus, which gives him awesome charisma.
Saturn governed his early years (1945-1962), and, because Saturn, in his chart, is the
ruler of the 4th house (comforts) and is located in the 8th house of loss, his father was away from home and died when Bob was only 10, forcing him and his mother to move to the ghettos of Trenchtown. Also Saturn is debilitated in his chart, so that makes that planet’s effects even more fierce.
Bob started his early career at the age of 14 when he dropped out of school, while still in his Saturn period. When he went into his 17 year Mercury period in 1962, he formed his first group, “the Teenagers”, later called the “Wailers,” who later became known worldwide in the early 70’s, with the album “Catch a Fire.” Mercury is both the lord of the 8th house (secrets and loss) and the 11th house of profits.
Also, in 1979, Bob started his 7 yr Ketu period, and evn though Ketu is not debilitated, it is still in the 2nd house, and that gives it “maraka” or killing powers. As I have mentioned before, planets associated with the 2nd or 7th houses are “marakas”, or “killers.”
It was during a Ketu major/Venus subperiod, that Bob passed away on May 11, 1981, at the age of 36. Now, as I mentioned previously, Saturn has its maturity in the 36th yr, so that had a part to play as well, as Saturn is always a first-class killer. so, it was several planets that had a and in his demise. Yet, he delivered his message and his legacy lingers on. He was a true hero of the People.
Jamaica 1979.
