Rioting in Greece: The Real Reason
Hidden from view, by the MSM is the real story of the rioting in Greece. The rioting happened because of illegal Turkish and Pakistani immigrants staying in squalid detention centers, who become frustrated with the difficulties of seeking asylum in Greece.
You see, Greece has a very difficult citizenship process and “Greece approved only 140 of the 20,692 asylum applications made in 2007, according to the UN refugee agency”, according to Majorityrights.com. Pakistanis and Turks come here to apply for asylum, but very few are accepted.
Even being born in Greece does not automatically give one citizenship, according to Backstory which did a short story on a young girl, Athina Bontigao, whose parents came to Greece from the Philippines. She was born in Greece, but carries only a Philippine passport.
Now, for the Afghanis, they come here because of the West’s war in their home territory, according to Reuters. But Greece has a very stiff asylum policy and usually sends these immigrants home. While they are in Greece, they live in squalid conditions.
According to the Dublin Agreement, the official EU asylum policy, illegal immigrants must return to the country through which they entered Europe, in other words, a country with an external border, like Greece, or Italy. Greece itself, has a very high unemployment rate and high conditions of poverty, so it is not well situated to help with the immigrants. This policy states that asylum seekers can also be kept in a detention camp for up to 18 months; so it’s pretty much like a prison.
Now, accordingly, sympathizers for the illegals started rioting and a boy was shot. This is the reality behind the recent rioting in Greece. Is their policy on asylum fair?
Let’s just take a look at what happens to countries that grant easy asylum to Muslims. Let’s look at Sweden, which has now become a Banana Republic, or Great Britain which has now become the spawning ground for the Islamic jihadists who recently attacked Mumbai.
Would you want your government to grant these immigrants asylum, knowing full well that they come, not to assimilate, but to conquer?
